Wish You Were Here: Crimes In Paradise with Patricia Wolf, Emma Styles and Sarah Yarwood-Lovett at West Barnes Library

We had a great evening at West Barnes Library on the 9th June with Patricia Wolf, Emma Styles and Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, discussing their destination thrillers. Patricia and Emma took us to Australia with Hero and The Shark, and Sarah to the Caribbean and a fictional island with The Pledge.

I had the evening off as Patricia interviewed Emma and Sarah, as well as discussing her own book. It was so lovely to just sit and listen as the authors talked about settings and the environment.

We were reminded of all the dangerous animals that live in Australia as well as ones that might be found on a fictional Caribbean island. Sarah taught us the rule of three when hiking in areas with potentially dangerous animals. You don’t want to the third person on a hike! The first person might disturb and wake an animal such as a snake. The second person might annoy it. The third is most likely to be bitten. Emma confirmed this rule with taking water from a water hole in Australia. The first time will wake the crocodile. The second time will annoy it. And the third… you get the picture by now! Huge thanks to Patricia, Emma and Sarah for travelling quite long ways to share their books with us.
